Honey Lemon Bath Syrup

Honey Lemon Bath Syrup

This is such an EASY product to make. I’m experimenting with product ideas for a presentation I am giving to a Beekeeping association on ways to expand their product lines. This one is a natural!

2.5 oz Turkey Red Castor oil
2.5 oz Polysorbate 20
2 oz filtered honey
4 - 8 drops of Lemon Essential Oil

Weigh first three ingredients into a Pyrex measuring pitcher, or other microwave save bowl. Heat in the microwave until liquids are warmed and fluid.  Mix well, add your Lemon Essential Oil to the scent level you like (4 - 8 drops for this tiny formula). Pour into a clear PETE bottle with a flip top or disc top cap. This mini formula makes one 8 oz bottle of Honey Lemon Bath Syrup, or as I like to call it, Honey Lemon Bath Drizzle. Instructions for use are simply to add an ounce or so to the running bath water and then luxuriate in this decadent indulgence.

This product will not separate nor will it leave an oily film on your tub. Turkey Red Castor oil is not only water soluble, but the Polysorbate 20 emulsifies the water soluble honey with the Turkey Red Castor Oil. This Honey Lemon Bath Drizzle will leave your body lightly moisturized. The energetic, fresh lemony scent will invigorate and uplift your sense of well being.

Wouldn’t this be a wonderful Mother’s Day project for a child, or a fast and easy product for resale?

What an interesting idea! What happens to the honey when you use a different oil? I've never tried putting honey in a bath oil before. Looks like it's time to play mad scientist.
  • Thanks! I like this one - I'm always telling people to use honey to emulsify their essential oils before placing in the bath water. This is a great way to make a full 8 ounces at a time. Do you think it would work without the polysorbate?

What a wonderful recipe for spring! Thanks Kelly =)
  • I love bath syrups! Thanks for sharing this recipe. It seems very versatile, like you can swap out essential oils and such. I have made similar things with Turkey red oil, but I have yet to use Polysorbate 20 in it! This is a great recipe to share!
